Talent Select AI Pushes for Inclusive and Unbiased Job Candidate Selection

Psychometric personality assessment tests are vastly known by candidates applying for jobs. Designed to study personality and aptitude, personality tests have become a step frequently required as part of interview processes.

The field of psychometrics, however, has been perceived as controversial and deemed unreliable for quite some time. Talent Select AI, a Milwaukee-based digital interview assessment firm, is trying to change the psychometric testing industry.

Talent Select AI

Using its natural language processing* (NLP)-powered candidate screening tool, 16-year-old firm Talent Select AI automatically screens job candidates’ psychological and personality traits during interviews.

Talent Select AI’s tool analyzes the candidates’ word choices during a live interview. The Talent Select AI software analysis then determines whether the candidate’s personality is fit for the job.

Unbiased Candidate Selection

Talent Select AI CTO, Will Rose, claims that Talent Select AI matches word choice and conversational context during interviews using text transcripts, without catching any audio or video.

This method is done to avoid visual information or intonation that may cause bias against specific racial or ethnic groups. By strictly looking at the words, there are no chances of misinterpretation caused by cultural differences.

Efficiency and Experience

Based on Talent Select AI, its model has been proven to cut hiring time in half and increases acceptance by candidates who are considered top-tier and fitting for specific roles and the company’s culture.

Furthermore, there has been an 80% increase in underrepresented applicant selections, somewhat proving that its goal for unbiased candidate selection has been reached.

Industry Application and Revolution

With what Talent Select AI has tried to achieve and has achieved so far, further development of its model may lead to elevated use in various industries looking to revolutionize the hiring process.

Talent Select AI’s candidate selection process can be utilized by businesses and implemented in companies. Not only can this simplify application processes for employers, but it also creates a bigger and fairer opportunity for candidates.

The application process can be done with ease as separate, time-consuming, and tedious tests are no longer required.

What’s Next?

Talent Select AI’s software is currently only available as an API that can be integrated into its clients’ hiring platforms and tools. However, Talent Select AI plans to make a separate application that users can interact with through Talent Select AI’s website by July 2023.

Facebook and Instagram in Canada Become Newsless Following Online News Act

Digital platforms have played a vital role in providing trusted news and information and transforming news circulation in Canada. To ensure a fair business relationship between digital platforms and news outlets, Canada’s federal government has passed the Online News Act, also known as Bill C-18,

Bill C-18

Canada’s media landscape has been presenting requests regarding strict regulations towards big tech firms to prevent big tech firms from keeping news businesses isolated in the online ad market.

These requests led to the creation and approval of Bill C-18, which requires big tech companies behind digital news platforms to pay domestic media outlets. As a result, Meta is removing news from Facebook and Instagram in Canada.

Newsless Meta in Canada

Based on a statement made by Meta in early June, content from news outlets, including news publishers and broadcasters, would not be available for people accessing Meta’s platforms in Canada.

Following the bill’s finalization, Meta has been overseeing product tests and building product solutions to end news availability in Canada.

These tests and solutions are currently ongoing and are said to affect a small percentage of users in Canada. However, Meta intends to end the availability of news content in Canada altogether soon.
