More Students Are Ditching Human Tutors for AI-Powered Learning with ChatGPT
Educational assistance has always been a significant aspect of children’s and teens’ process of learning. It is not uncommon for parents to hire tutors when helping their children learn. With the increasing amount of sources of knowledge, a survey taken by Intelligent.com has shown that many parents and students are taking a different direction, now relying more on artificial intelligence.
This survey was conducted on high school and college students who have gone through both traditional tutoring and study sessions with ChatGPT. Students’ perspectives on educational assistance have transformed quite significantly, with them asserting that ChatGPT’s effectiveness as a learning tool surpasses studying with human tutors.
Efficiency and Convenience
Many parents agree with this perspective as they find that ChatGPT’s ability to rectify errors can make studying more convenient. Parents also find ChatGPT more advantageous because of its accuracy and quick response, and it proves to be more cost-efficient since it is free to use and is available at all times.
Intelligent.com’s report shows that about 95% of students who have integrated ChatGPT into their learning process, especially those studying subjects like mathematics and the natural sciences (chemistry, biology, physics), have experienced boosts in grades. ChatGPT has also helped them grasp complex, technical concepts.
What’s The Catch?
Despite these positive perspectives on AI, one of Intelligent.com’s researchers, Gayeski, has pointed out that ChatGPT’s efficiency is reliant on the user’s ability to enter good prompts. Human tutors, however, are already experts on specific topics and therefore are able to know what questions to ask kids for assessment and can give proper feedback according to the kids’ misconceptions.
A survey conducted by Study.com also shows that a large majority of students are already aware of ChatGPT, and about 89% of responders have admitted that they use ChatGPT when doing their homework. 48% of students have used ChatGPT for at-home tests and quizzes, and 52% for writing essays. This worries educators about how much easier students can plagiarize work now, requiring proper surveillance.
As seen from Gayeski’s perspective, tutors possess valuable knowledge that can teach kids from scratch. ChatGPT’s ability to “teach” requires the user to possess the skill beforehand in order for them to articulate the proper questions. While ChatGPT can help boost kids’ grades, human tutors are vital in providing structure for them.
Conclusion
In the end, it seems both sources of knowledge can be beneficial depending on the individual’s needs. With how much AI has developed, however, especially with GPT-4 now available for $20 per month, cutting-cost, AI-backed educational apps (with proper surveillance to prevent plagiarism in mind, perhaps) may be a great niche business opportunity. GPT-4 is only a few clicks away, and, therefore, very accessible. Hiring human tutors might take some time since proper contact is required. Students also have to set an appointment with tutors that works for everyone, while GPT-4’s available 24/7 for everyone.

Privacy-Focused Browser Brave Integrates NFT into Video Service, Brave Talk
San Fransisco-based Web3-integrated Browser Brave has released a new tool that is NFT-friendly. They have introduced token-gate video calls integrated into their Brave Talk video service. Hosts can now use NFTs and POAPS when managing access to calls to act as “tickets.”
We’re excited to introduce a Web3 calls option for Brave Talk! Brave Talk Web3 calls allow hosts to use NFTs and POAPs to token-gate access.
For example, communities could hold calls just for people who own an NFT from a particular collection.

Tools and Features
Hosts can hold live events, where communities can share calls based on specific token holders, and creators can give exclusive access to token-holding fans. This could prove to be a great opportunity for businesses, as they can open NFT marketplaces to sell and resell “tickets” to certain events.
This tool, which is currently only compatible with Ethereum-based NFTs, is available for Brave Talk premium subscribers with browsers that have Web3 wallets. Call hosts can also use NFTs to configure avatars and assign moderator permissions.
Brave plans to make these token-gated calls available to non-Ethereum NFTs soon, and in the future, hosts will be able to grant access based on specific token balances or previous owner of a token, as well as send crypto to call participants.
You can learn more about this tool’s features here! And if you haven’t already, you can download this privacy-focused browser here.
Nvidia Breaks Through as First Chipmaker Valued at $1 Trillion
Nvidia has recently become the first chip-making company that briefly reached the $1 trillion mark in valuation. In this past week, Nvidia’s share price peaked at about $419 and opened yesterday at $405 per share. Today, Nvidia has fallen back to $401 per share, still being very much valuable at $992 billion.
Generative AI Boom
It seems Nvidia can thank the AI boom for this great share rise. Generative AI has been a big trend for some time now, seen from the success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. Although plenty of customers thought of GPUs as primarily useful for intensive gaming, Nvidia’s graphics processing units are significant and critical for these generative AI platforms to work.
AI’s significance and importance, especially in the tech industry, raises the question of whether businesses not involved in AI could be at a competitive disadvantage. Being a key supplier for companies trying to build products with AI has made Nvidia statistically as successful in value as many big tech companies, such as Apple, Google parent Alphabet, Amazon, and Microsoft.
Being GPU manufacturers and suppliers has proven to be quite a big deal due to the AI frenzy and increase in crypto mining, seen from the share prices rise in the last few months of not only Nvidia but also Advanced Micro Devices and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing.
What’s Next?
Nvidia forecasts $11 billion in sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2024. It shouldn’t be much of a surprise if it comes true, seeing as, aside from their $2 billion profit in three months seen on their quarterly earnings report, they have big plans involving AI, shown in their Computex 2023 keynote.
You can check out Nvidia’s keynote recap here, including their plans to mix AI and gaming into one here!
