Pair AI Revolutionizes Online Courses

We can always try to live life the way we want to. We can create an imaginary bubble (not a real one like Jake Gyllenhaal in Bubble Boy) to protect us from the noise of the world. Though definitely comforting, this can never be a permanent situation. The world moves expeditiously, and with technology continuing to grow every day, many of us live our lives with social media on the go 24/7, only stopping when we shower and sleep.

It’s undoubtedly true that the constant noise and buzz from constant social media use has shortened the attention span of a lot of people. It has come to a point where terms like “doom-scrolling” and “scrollaxing” exist. Nowadays, in order for people to pay attention to a person on video trying to build a point, there would have to be a Subway Surfers video attached to it.

This may seem like a bad thing, and it probably is. Because of this habit, a lot of people have difficulty concentrating on anything that takes place for more than 10 seconds, making it extra challenging for people to learn and build up their skills for an extended period of time.

Taking advantage of this inevitable condition, startup Pair AI created a platform for digital creators to make white-label educational courses just as fun and engaging as TikTok videos, Instagram reels, or YouTube shorts.

Gamified Videos

The startup, founded by former Product Manager at Facebook Parth Detroja and former Software Engineer at Microsoft Jason Goodison, built Pair AI after spending the past few years launching multiple educational courses themselves.

Average online courses usually take over 20 hours. Though educational, these courses have an average completion rate below 9%, and this may, again, be due to the fact that many people nowadays have shorter attention spans. Most students don’t exactly want to go through long lectures, and the pair understands this.

Pair AI’s platform lets creators design shorter-form videos that are about 5 to 10 minutes on average. The courses would take about 90 to 120 minutes and be broken up into 20 videos. The white-label course videos creators make can feature any topic creators want to teach their fans and consumers, whether it be mixology, fitness, photography, and so on.

With an increasing need for people, especially of today’s generation, to learn in an engaging way, the courses also include gamification tools, meaning tools that are usually exclusively found in video games, like streaks, badges, and leaderboards. This way, students can be encouraged to study consistently and turn the courses into part of their daily habits.

The tools will be advantageous not only for the student’s progress but also for the creators’ business potential. By building engaging courses that students can absorb well, they would be more inclined to consume a bunch of the creator’s educational courses.

Creator Advantage

Aside from the whole issue of attention spans, Pair AI has also grown aware of content piracy and ineffective monetization for creators. Detroja and Goodison approached more than a hundred creators on why creating educational courses hasn’t been part of their content plan.

Besides the fact that extensive videos would take tons of planning, research, and plenty of time and resources, many creators worry about the piracy of digital courses, especially when they’re in the form of video-on-demand. Many creators also have difficulty figuring out how to properly monetize a course without depending on advertisers. We already know that Pair AI can assist creators in solving the problem of duration, but how about monetization?

Platforms that allow creators to launch courses are far from uncommon. However, many, if not most or all, of them require either upfront fees or recurring monthly fees. Pair AI will only make money when creators make money. Creators get to keep 90% of sales while Pair AI takes 10%. Pair AI also offers tooling that can prevent piracy content as well as quick and active file takedown requests in case piracy occurs.

To fully assist and prioritize creators as well as protect their content, Pair AI also offers an AI-based advantage.

Patented AI

While working at Facebook for 4 years, Detroja was able to patent half a dozen AI technologies. Detroja and Goodison are continuously taking advantage of these patents, one way by incorporating AI assistance in their services.

Pair AI collects a creator’s entire content back catalog, which essentially means they keep every single one of every creator’s courses, even the less recent ones. Pair AI uses the back catalog to craft a chatbot fine-tuned to sound exactly like the course’s creator.

This personalized AI-based feature not only allows students who want to learn later on when they have spare time but also prevents anything a creator has made from going to waste. Creators can also deliver push notifications and live content updates so students can continuously keep up.

In a world where knowledge is gold, and there is so much gold we can dig for, Pair AI’s platform is certainly a significant asset, giving anybody anywhere a chance to pursue their passion by gaining knowledge and developing skills with just their phone.

The Y Combinator-backed startup was named one of the top 10 AI startups out of the 282 companies in their Y Combinator batch, along with Diffusion Bio, Electric Air, Haven, and more. Pair AI raised $125K in seed funding last January, recently totaling $500k.
