In this competitive market and age, even the slightest advantage in gaining new customers and keeping them could set companies apart from their contentions. This has made customer relationship management (CRM) platforms deemed beneficial and vital, as they provide companies the ability to segment their customer bases and perform more personalized and targeted marketing strategies.

As the value of great customer data continues to escalate, an increasing number of companies aim for modern CRM solutions, with the CRM market reaching $47B in the last two years and, according to CRM.org, is expected to grow to $50B by 2025 worldwide. Despite this, some view most existing customer relationship management software as outdated, believing that a new industry standard should be set.

This includes Okapi, a YC-backed startup founded by Ulysse Carion and Ned O’Leary that has created a user-friendly CRM platform designed to assist companies with the most complex and unique customer relations and business processes.

Modern CRM for Efficiency and Flexibility

Though the precursor of modern CRMs named ACT! ACT! has existed from way back in 1987, developed by Mike Muhney and Pat Sullivan, the main idea of the system remains the same. In the past, CRMs were employed to collect and digitize customer data and information and, to a limited degree, analyze them, replacing the famous Rolodex often used by sales teams.

With significant technological advancements, modern CRMs can accomplish much more, with functionalities that create quality customer databases for better sales but aren’t strictly beneficial for just that. Modern CRM solutions enable companies to streamline executing processes that can lead to higher ROIs without having to spend too much time on manual tasks. When in the olden days, salespeople relied on Rolodexes, sales teams in our days would depend on spreadsheets.

While spreadsheets like Excel are still commonly being used, manual tasks pose drawbacks that would otherwise not be met when companies utilize CRM software. Spreadsheets can be difficult to manage and search through and do not operate in real-time, meaning constant changes need to be made that won’t automatically be updated in one’s system. This mode of work also isn’t designed for collaborative work, which has become all the more necessary in the modern, remote workforce.

Meanwhile, Okapi aims to address these gaps with its modern and user-friendly CRM platform, providing features that can support the simpler needs of smaller startups as well as the complex needs of enterprises.

Intuition and Integration

Designed to be user-friendly, Okapi’s features resemble spreadsheets to cater to what sales teams are already accustomed to, only this time with fast and simple inline editing. The platform is also equipped with in-house, collaborative features favorable and beneficial for many contributing members of a company. Every change or update made is updated in real-time along with any history in data, as well as the editor of said changes.

Okapi is also flexible and integrable, allowing users to import their existing data from previous CRM software or other platforms like Google Sheets, Notion, LinkedIn, email, and so on. Equipped with customization features, Okapi’s team will set up the CRM upon sign-up according to every company’s specific needs, with them only needing to wait until the CRM is fully configured shortly after.

Following the duo founder’s experience working as software engineers and part of a strategy and operations team, the two built a product that they believed would have improved the methodologies and processes they went through by miles ahead, with hopes of providing an elevated experience for companies in need.

Okapi is currently available in private beta, and those interested in trying out the startup’s modern CRM solutions can request access through its website homepage.
