Big data plays an incredibly significant role in various industries, including communications and media, manufacturing, and education, as well as healthcare and pharmaceuticals. With data generation continuously being mountainous in our digital era, big data analytics is a tool capable of turning data into valuable insights.

In the healthcare industry, big data analytics can be used to improve patient care, conduct more effective research for product development, and so on. Despite the great optimization it offers, big data analytics are time-consuming and complex, requiring intricate skills and demanding training. In addition to this, setting up and maintaining these systems aren’t exactly affordable, especially challenging for startups and small businesses.

A Y Combinator-backed startup named Argon AI, Inc., founded by Samy Danesh, Cyrus Jia, and Frances Liu, creates an AI-powered platform that makes pharma and life sciences data analytics and workflows effortless through natural language execution, only taking minutes rather than months.

Challenges in Healthcare Analytics

Data analytics acts as an important tool that, among other benefits, helps professional health workers accelerate the development of pharma products, assisting them in managing quality control and reducing manufacturing costs. While Argon AI’s founders believe in the tool’s beneficial nature, they’ve found substantial challenges that have and will continue to persist in the industry if no new method for better analytics is found.

Before pursuing Argon AI, Danesh handled the first substantial data analytics project in Flatiron Health (Roche), playing a part in the company’s business unit. His experience in the unit was filled with the search for valuable insights, mainly for drug development programs. However, progress was very often halted due to heavily manual processes that require plenty of time and costs, costing Biopharma companies a great deal of resources without as much progress as needed and expected.

These challenges prompted Danesh to work with Cyrus and Frances, who have experience in building software that solves insight generation problems using artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms. With the addition of Frances’ exposure to building scalable and secure AI-based solutions, mainly encountered and built when working for Cloudflare and OneSignal, Argon’s AI-powered platform was born.

Pharma Workflow Solutions

Utilizing AI and ML solutions, Argon’s platform is designed to augment and automate clinical development intelligence. This entails executing complex clinical workflows and drug development tasks with automation, performing what would usually take months for healthcare professionals to complete in mere minutes using natural language.

The platform assists professionals in the pharmaceutical industry in conducting more comprehensive research with a swift approach, answering questions about clinical trials, existing medical treatments, the moving landscape of the healthcare industry, as well as the industry’s competitive market.

This way, the platform will not only be incredibly practical for the medical act of developing drugs itself but also in helping healthcare professionals make thoughtful decisions in more administrative processes, for instance, in when to release the drugs or how to market them so companies can achieve the most beneficial and profitable results.

Based on Argon’s team’s research, bringing a drug to market is a process that is often far from profitable, at least in the short term. The process takes an immense amount of time and effort that costs pharma companies about $3M per day, possibly only resulting in financial gain after quite some time.

With Argon’s AI-powered platform, ways of running biopharma and life sciences workflows might just be greatly improved, reinventing healthcare analytics and development.

The company launched the Beta version of its platform last December, with claims of earning about $8K of monthly recurring revenue and a growth of 90% month over month. Those interested in Argon AI’s services can enter a waitlist.
